Kitchen Renovation Guide

Your Dream Kitchen Starts here:

Renovating your kitchen is one of the most valuable improvements you can make to your home. A well-designed kitchen enhances everyday functionality, compliments your lifestyle, and adds long-term value to your property.

At Scenic Joinery, we specialise in designing and building custom kitchens tailored to each home. This guide outlines the key considerations, process, and important factors to help you plan your renovation with clarity and confidence.

Initial Consultation and Planning

Every project begins with a detailed consultation to understand your space, lifestyle, and goals. This allows us to develop a tailored solution that aligns with both your functional needs and design preferences.

Prior to your in-home consultation, it is helpful to provide photographs of your current kitchen or space, along with any inspiration images that reflect your preferred style. This allows us to prepare for our onsite meeting and provide more meaningful guidance from the outset.

Important Factors to Consider

Kitchen Layout

Consider whether you intend to retain the existing layout or explore a new configuration.

While maintaining the current footprint can be more straightforward, adjusting the layout can significantly improve functionality and flow. Changes may involve electrical, plumbing, or flooring adjustments depending on the scope. At our onsite meeting, we will discuss layout options, material selections, and design considerations to ensure the finished result is both functional and visually cohesive.

Flooring

If the layout is changing, it is important to consider whether your existing flooring will extend beneath the new cabinetry or walls. In some cases, flooring may need to be extended or replaced to achieve a seamless and professional finish.

Appliances

Appliance selection is an important early consideration, as dimensions and specifications directly influence cabinetry design and layout. Whether retaining existing appliances or investing in new ones, planning ahead ensures a well-integrated and cohesive result.

Cabinetry Finishes

Cabinetry finish plays a key role in both the appearance and durability of your kitchen.
A 2-pac painted finish offers a seamless, refined appearance suited to premium designs, while prefinished laminate provides a wide range of modern colours and textures with excellent durability and ease of maintenance. We will guide you through the most suitable options based on your goals and preferences.

Benchtop Materials

Benchtop selection contributes significantly to both the visual impact and performance of your kitchen. Options such as engineered stone, natural granite, and laminate each offer unique advantages in terms of appearance, durability, and investment level. We will help you select a material that compliments your design and lifestyle.

Understanding Your Kitchen Renovation Investment

A kitchen renovation is a highly individual & custom project, and the overall investment can vary depending on the design, materials and finishes.

Cabinetry and stone benchtops are offered across multiple categories and price points, allowing a tailored approach to suit both style and budget.

Understanding the available options and how they relate to your budget is a great way to start planning a kitchen that meets your needs and expectations.

We provide guidance through all available options, ensuring choices align with your lifestyle, preferences, and investment costs.

Tips

Colour selections:

Take home physical samples to view colour selections in your homes lighting, most suppliers allow you to order them online also. This ensures confidence in your selections.

Alternative cooking arrangements:

During installation your kitchen will be temporarily out of use. We recommend preparing a temporary set up with your preferred appliances to ensure minimal disruption to your daily routine.
